Flushing

a technique of watering with pure water or a very thin fertiliser solution, thereby cleansing the soil and/or plant of excess nutrients. This is done if the plant has been overfertilized, has accumulated too much nutrient salts in the pots, which is harmful to the plant. Also done at the end of flowering to clean the crops of fertilizer residues. This is said to improve the taste and aroma of the finished products.
