Endocannabinoid system

also abbreviated ECS, is responsible for regulating the body’s immune system, communication between cells, metabolism, memory, sleep, appetite, digestion, mood, fertility, pain, temperature regulation, etc. Despite its important role in the human body, ECS is a very unknown area and was only discovered in the 1990s. A lot of research is therefore being done these years to understand it better. What we do understand, however, is that the cannabinoids in the cannabis plant (the so-called phytocannabinoids) interact with the body’s ECS, as well as it can have many beneficial effects.
