Jack Herer cannabis seeds from Sensi Seeds are a legendary strain that is widely recognised as one of the best and most reputable ever. Its genetic origin is kept secret, but it is believed to be derived from the cross between Haze, Northern Lights #5 and Shiva Skunk.

This cannabis strain, named after the influential cannabis activist, is the textbook example of balance and harmony between Indica and Sativa genetics.

From its introduction in 1994 until now, it has won 17 Cannabis Cups, making it one of the most award-winning strains to date.

Description

Jack Herer has so many incredible qualities that it’s hard to know where to begin. The crops are amazing, super crystallised and a real delicacy. The growth of the variety is more difficult to say anything about in general – it is actually a bit difficult. More details to follow:

It has 4 main phenotypes, exhibiting the characteristics of Sativa and Indica in different combinations; within limits of course. You should therefore by no means expect a uniform plant. However, this should not be seen as a negative, but as a great and exciting opportunity to “catch” the phenotype that appeals to you the most (and then take cuttings from it!).

Generally speaking, Sativa phenotypes grow to quite a large size and like to spread. It is therefore important to create space around it so that it does not stand too close. It is also a good idea to use nets to support the branches so that they do not break under the weight of the heavy top shoots that appear during flowering. Flowering is long: About 84 days or longer.

In general, the Indica phenotypes are much more compact and bushy in structure, and therefore significantly lower. They are suitable for SOG cultivation, and finish flowering quickly (around 55-60 days). These phenotypes are generally extremely crystallized and good for extractions.

Jack Herer is not a difficult variety to grow, but is not recommended for beginners. Firstly, the seeds are quite expensive, and secondly, it’s pretty much guaranteed to be too much of a mouthful with the varying phenotypes, growth patterns, etc. It is also slightly vulnerable to over-fertilisation.

To be successful with Jack Herer, it is almost a must that you “tame” it, understood in the sense that you select one or two phenotypes, which you then make into mother plant(s). By taking cuttings from them afterwards, you get an identical crop that is easier to manage and adapt conditions to.

The taste and aroma depend on the phenotype. But don’t worry, they are all – without exception – super delicious and highly appealing: spicy, sour and Haze-like, Afghan hash with hints of earth or clear Skunk-like fruity strokes.

The effect is, as said before, perfectly balanced and harmonious. It starts out as really potent, instantly uplifting and energising, and will stimulate all your senses in a really pleasant way. The rush is soon accompanied by a relaxing bodily sensation, and a desire for creative expression and social activities.

Medically, it is suitable for relieving symptoms of stress, depression and anxiety. Although not high in CBD, it can also relieve chronic pain and tension in the body. There is also feedback that it is effective against migraines. However, be aware that it is not recommended for people who suffer from sleeping problems, as it is invigorating and can keep you awake for a long time.
