White Widow: a world-renowned legend

Although the exact origin is something of a mystery, we can guarantee that the original White Widow is a Dutch classic that was first cultivated in the Netherlands.

The original White Widow was created when a Sativa landrace from Brazil was pollinated by an Indica hybrid from southern India. According to the stories, WW was the result of years of selection and breeding in the Kerala mountains to create marijuana plants rich in resin.

Since the first release back in the 90s, White Widows seeds have been spread around the world, leading to countless variations of this original variety. Most reputable seed sellers and distributors will have a version of WW available – and this is certainly the case at RQS.

At Royal Queen Seeds, our talented growers have created our own version of this classic using White Widow S1 genetics. Our variant contains a perfect genetic balance of 50% Indica and 50% Sativa. She is right in the middle of the spectrum and offers the best of both worlds.

White Widow delivers good yields and manageable growth

Our feminised version of White Widow grows to about 1 metre indoors, while the height is 2 metres outdoors. It needs a lot of light, but can grow in colder climates like France, the UK and the Netherlands. Indoors, it can yield 450-500 grams/m2 under a 600W light. Outdoors, 550-600 grams/plant can be harvested. Although this cultivar performs best in a warm climate, it still delivers excellent results in northern European climates.

White Widow ends its flowering period after 8-10 weeks without the need for major maintenance and care. This is the perfect plant for first-time growers. These features also make the plant an obvious choice for SOG and ScrOG methods.

She produces a great top shot if not exposed to training. Although she’s pretty and impressive, you’ll get better results with a little practice. Top each plant during the early vegetative phase, using low stress training (LST) and defoliation to produce ample bud areas and an open area at the top with good air flow.
